Breast massage cannot be found in many massage styles of this world. Does that mean it is not okay to do?

Well if you research it, you will find that there are two reasons why breast massage is usually not part of massage.

One is professional conduct, which means that classical western massage and many other massage traditions of this world, consider the touch of the female breast and the genitals as an intrusion in privacy. In many cultures even the massage between genders is not considered appropriate.

So much said, there are newer massage philosophies that consider sensual massage (including erotic massage) and even prostate massage as professional and say that if there is a consensus between practitioner and clients then they don’t see a reason why not to touch these body areas.

The second one comes from the supposedly medical reason that breast massage can spread cancer in the breast. I cannot verify this claim and have so far not seen any evidence for it. Practitioners who include the breast massage in their daily routine even say that this is just an excuse of uptight conservatives, who just need to be liberated and that breast massage is a valuable tool for early detection of breast cancer.

No matter how you feel about breast massage (and I personally do not usually include it in a classical massage, but do occasionally perform meridian work on the breast within a Chinese massage treatment), I think that breast self-massage is a valuable application to keep good circulation in the breast and possibly detect lumps early enough to get adequate medical treatment.

With claims that breast massage is a therapeutic tool for breast augmentation, breast enlargement or breast enhancement, I would be careful. I have so far not seen any evidence for this, but will let you know if I ever find out.
